Updated

ParkMap needs almost nothing about you to answer whether you can park. This page says what is still processed, why and for how long.

Controller

Livog AB (reg. no. 559359-4251) is the controller for the personal data described on this page. Email [email protected] if you have questions or want to use any of your rights.

No account, no ads

ParkMap has no user accounts, shows no ads and does not track you across sites. Fonts, the map engine and icons are served from parkmap.se itself. Your settings are kept only in your own browser.

When you use the map

To draw the streets, the map fetches the rules for the area you are looking at. Every time you move the map, its centre point, rounded to about a hundred metres, is sent to our server together with your IP address. The server answers with the rules and does not store the request.

When you search for an address, what you type is sent together with the map’s centre point to our own address service on parkmap.se. The search is not stored.

When you press “Find me”, the browser asks whether you want to share your position. The position is used only in your browser to move the map and is not sent to us as such; what is sent is the rounded centre point described above. The latest position is kept in the browser’s local storage so the map can open at the same place next time.

To protect the service from abuse, the server counts requests per IP address in memory, for at most a minute at a time. None of it is written down.

The base map

Streets, buildings and names in the background are fetched as map tiles from OpenFreeMap, an open map service built on OpenStreetMap. When you look at the map, OpenFreeMap receives your IP address and which tiles you request, that is, roughly which area you are looking at. How OpenFreeMap handles that is described on their own website.

Cloudflare

parkmap.se is delivered through Cloudflare, Inc. (USA), which protects the site from attacks and makes it faster. Cloudflare therefore receives your IP address and details of every request and may set cookies needed for security.

If you accept “Analytics”, Cloudflare Web Analytics also counts visits to the site, without cookies and without following you across sites. The transfer to the USA relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, under which Cloudflare is certified, and the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

When you send feedback

The form in the map sends only what you write, at most 2,000 characters. The server stores the message together with your IP address and the time. The IP address is used only to limit the number of messages per hour and is deleted after 30 days. The message is kept until we have acted on it, at most 12 months.

We do not ask for any contact details and therefore cannot reply. Do not enter anything about yourself or others that you do not want us to have.

What is kept in your browser

Your settings, your latest position and your cookie choices are kept in your browser’s local storage, not with us. What is kept and how to remove it is described in the cookie policy.

The GDPR requires a legal basis for every processing activity. Ours are:

  • Your IP address and the map’s centre point when the map fetches rules: legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) in providing a working and secure service.
  • Visit statistics through Cloudflare Web Analytics: your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time under Cookie settings.
  • The IP address when you send feedback: legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) in preventing abuse of the form.
  • The feedback itself: legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) in improving the service.

How long we keep data

  • Map requests and address searches: not stored.
  • IP address with feedback: 30 days.
  • Feedback: until we have acted on it, at most 12 months.
  • Cookie choices: 12 months, in your browser.
  • Our own server keeps no log of visits. Cloudflare’s logs are governed by Cloudflare’s own policy.

Where data is processed

The server, the database and the address service are run by Livog AB in Sweden. Cloudflare and OpenFreeMap receive data as described above; Cloudflare may process it in the USA on the basis set out under Cloudflare.

Your rights

You have the right to know what data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict processing, to object to processing based on legitimate interest and to withdraw consent. Since we cannot link map requests or feedback to a person unless you tell us which IP address and time it concerns, we help as far as that allows. Email [email protected].

You can also complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY), imy.se.

Changes

If we change the policy, we update the date at the top of the page.
